...Throughout millions of years the land was peaceful. A large castle with tall towers with spiralled tops and large archways and gates sat tall and proud in the middle of a hill, towers tall, portcullis drawn into neat and sharp points. It was the high and pride of the century, a grand fortress indeed. But deep within the earth, underneath this massive fortress an underground river tears its way deep below the surface. It slowly builds a tall, massive cavern, and when it begins to reach the top, it pulls the castle and its contents down to the sinking depths.
There it stayed, its people shocked, yet alive and well. The strange cave water made a thick and deep moat, and a drawbridge was made to get across with large chains to support its massive weight. There they lived, the cavern covering up its precious cargo, land piling up on top of it throughout the years.
The castle and its people lived for many, many centuries later. They never seem to die of old age after drinking the water that flowed down and around into their moat. They do get injured, and die of serious injuries, but not of old age. They remained what every age they are, never growing weaker.
Some people took this as a gift from god and wandered off from their old beliefs, drinking the water and as the years grew by they became more stealthy, and with extreme hearing and sight. Their ears pointed at the tips, and became... elves.
Some wandered to the water and swam for nearly all there lives, relying on fish and the water for their survival. Legs webbed together and scales grew, making.... mermaids.
The creatures were also affected, making strange adaptations and new creatures off all sorts of terrains. Lizards grew much larger and size, grew wings and possessed the ability to breath fire.
The water was a gift. It prolongs life, relieves pain, and gives special abilities to everything it comes in contact with. It made a whole new world, all underground; yet with seasons and weather just like the above world. The entrance, a large dark cave that no one has ever found.
Until now.
The cave is discovered by a teenaged boy, who needs its precious water to survive and so far his secret is holding out; sharing with no one except one; but who knows for how long? The cave is hidden well, but not from someone who knows what he or she is looking for. As for the knights and humans are known throughout the land, and the creatures are becoming curious, possibly angry but there is no doubt they are moving. Who knows what terrors await in the shadows, and what will become of the cave’s future is clouded with mystery...
